Platform: Solution-based licensing model in Cyber Protect Cloud
This release introduces a new licensing model to address the needs of small and medium-size service providers for easy to manage licensing and billing.
Key benefits
- Simplified licensing model while keeping the Advanced licensing model for more granular control
Launch a simpler option that reduces complexity for MSPs, avoiding the need to manage separate Per Workload and Per Gigabyte models.
Advanced Licensing remains available for those with deeper customization needs, and is now called Service-based licensing. - Pre-configured solution packages that are easy to manage
The model contains three ready-made packages: “Security and RMM,” “Backup and DR”, and "Ultimate Protection", that combine most demanded functionalities, making it easier for MSPs to resell without building their own custom bundles. The bundles can be extended with additional functionality like Managed Detection and Response, Security Awareness Training, and others. - Clear onboarding and enablement
MSPs are equipped with user-friendly tools, training materials, and step-by-step guidance for easier on-boarding. This ensures they can adopt the new model quickly while retaining Advanced Licensing as needed for more complex use cases.
Supported scenarios
- Both licensing modes can be combined in partner and folder tenants.
- Only one licensing mode (solution based or service-based) with multiple offering items can be enabled per customer tenant.
- Easy switching between licensing modes, while retaining usage history and backup data. The affected protection plans continue to operate seamlessly.
Check the Licensing Guide in the Partner Portal for details.
Backup: Agentless backup for Proxmox VE version 9
This release adds support for agentless backup of version 9 of Proxmox virtual environments.
Key benefits
- Reliable: The agentless backup solution is built by leveraging more than 20 years of Acronis' experience in data protection.
- Flexible: You can backup virtual machines and containers to local storage, Acronis Cloud, or public cloud storage.
- Universal: The solution supports migration of workloads to and from Proxmox VE.
Implementation notes
- Proxmox VE support is provided in a special plug-in/add-on, installed along with the standard Agent for Linux.
- To support automatic protection of virtual machines after their migration across Proxmox VE cluster nodes, each node must have the Agent for Proxmox (Agent for Linux + plugin) installed.
- The solution supports most types of virtual machines and container backend storage.
- For virtual machines backups, there are no limitations, and all virtual machine backend storages are supported.
- For containers backups, the container backend storage must support snapshots.
Supported scenarios
- Backup and restore Windows/Linux Proxmox VE virtual machines and containers, running on Proxmox VE 8.2+, 9.0+
- File-level recovery
- Cross-platform recoveries to/from Proxmox VE virtual machines
Licensing
- Service-based:
- Standard licensing: A Virtual Machine quota is required per Proxmox VE virtual machine or container.
- Solution-based:
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Ultimate Protection
Backup: Direct backup to IONOS Cloud storage
With direct backup to IONOS Cloud, backups can be stored on IONOS Cloud (S3) storage without the need to manage additional gateway machines.
Implementation notes
- "User-owned" buckets are not discovered automatically and should be accessed by creating an S3 compatible backup location type.
- Validation of backups is disabled to avoid excessive egress traffic costs.
Supported scenarios
- Backup and restore Windows/Linux and/or VMs data to/from IONOS Cloud storage, including disk/volume (physical and virtual), and files/folders.
- Recover to bare metal via bootable media by registering it on the Cloud management server for remote management.
Licensing
- Service-based:
- Per gigabyte and Per workload models: Advanced Backup pack for each workload backing up or replicating to IONOS Cloud.
- Per gigabyte model only: charge for public cloud storage at the same price charged for local storage.
- Solution-based:
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Ultimate Protection
Email archiving: Import emails from .PST into Email archive for M365
Partner administrators can now migrate customers to Acronis Email archiving for M365 independently, without having to call Acronis Support or Professional services.
PST files stored locally throughout the years can now be imported directly into the Email archive, leaving no gaps in data.
Supported scenarios
- Migrate from any email archiving solution by importing PST files stored in OneDrive.
- Import emails from PST files stored locally via OneDrive.
Licensing
- Service-based:
- Part of Email archiving existing Offering items
- Available in both Per-GB and Per-Workload models

Disaster Recovery: Compute points usage widget in DR dashboard
In the past, partners were not able to provide in invoices to end customers detailed data for compute points usage per individual servers of the DR service.
Now, the DR Compute Points usage reconciliation report now shows usage statistics for compute points per workload for the past 6 months (current month + previous 5 months). This enables partners to deliver more transparent and accurate reporting to their customers. End customers can download the same report from the DR dashboard.
Supported scenarios
- Partners can share with their customers DR Compute Points usage reconciliation reports per server.
- End customers can download the same report from the DR dashboard.
Licensing
- Service-based:
- Per gigabyte and Per workload models: Standard Protection + Disaster Recovery service.
- Solution-based:
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Ultimate Protection
Disaster Recovery: Disaster recovery to Azure - accelerated cold DR failover

Detection and response: Custom user override in protection plan
This is a non-commercial feature that improves the supportability of the product in specific scenarios.
Key benefits
- Issues can be resolved by modifying some settings not visible in the UI of the protection plan.
- Introducing a new page in the protection plan allows partners to enter custom settings that will help mitigate issues on partner level.
- No tedious workaround steps required from partner to mitigate their issue.
Supported scenarios
- Under the guidance of Acronis support only! Partners can enter custom settings in the UI of the protection plan to address potential issues.
