Backup: Added support for the Microsoft 365 Backup API

Direct Backup to Microsoft 365 is built on Microsoft 365 Backup Storage, which provides an additional storage option for partners that can coexist with the current Microsoft 365 Backup Service, which includes storage to Acronis datacenters. The new Direct Backup to Microsoft 365 helps prevent data loss by backing up Microsoft 365 workloads every 10 minutes to Microsoft 365 Backup storage.

Support for the Microsoft 365 Backup API allows fast and frequent bulk backup and recovery operations for Microsoft 365 user mailboxes, OneDrive, and SharePoint sites.

Backup: Registration of the appliance-based agents with 2FA-protected accounts

Partners can save time during the initial setup and avoid the complex CLI registration flow for Acronis appliances when the Cloud user account is protected with 2FA.

To register an Acronis appliance, partners can generate Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) in the Cloud console and then enter the password in the appliance GUI. The new registration flow is available for appliances for VMware, Scale Computing, Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure, oVirt, and Nutanix.

Disaster Recovery: Built-in diagnostics to troubleshoot site-to-site VPN issues

Partners can now troubleshoot the most common site-to-site VPN issues in Disaster Recovery by using a built-in tool included in the VPN appliance image. The diagnostic tool is available as an additional action in the VPN appliance user interface.

Acronis PSA (Advanced Automation): Automated billing of Acronis services on Acronis PSA activation

Partner onboarding is accelerated and the early adoption friction–reduced through automatic generation of billing data for all customers who use Acronis services. Immediately after the product activation, MSPs gain visibility into unbilled service usage and potential missed revenue — without waiting for the next billing cycle.

Previously, partners had to submit mandatory billing information for their customers and wait until the next billing run to see any billing data. Now, Acronis PSA automatically triggers monthly billing on the product activation date for the entire customer base. Within 30 minutes of activation, billing data (sales items in the "Draft" status) and expense reports for past months become available.

This improvement enables partners to view usage and billing data in financial dashboards and reports right away. Mandatory billing information for customers is still required before generating invoices.

Acronis RMM (Advanced Management): Simplified remote desktop enablement

Administrators can enable Remote Desktop through a more intuitive and simple workflow. Now, the administrator doesn't have to leave the current screen if a remote management plan is not applied to a remote device when the connection is initiated. The administrator can create and apply the remote management plan on the same screen without interrupting the flow.

Cyber Cloud integrations: Adding a new integration with Kaseya VSA 10

Kaseya provisions new VSA partners on VSA 10 (a.k.a VSA X) and will migrate existing VSA partners to VSA 10. VSA 10 is based on Pulseway which requires an entirely new integration.

The new integration with Kaseya VSA 10 supports the following scenarios:

  • Customer tenant provisioning
  • Deploy the Acronis agent and apply a protection plan
  • Protection status monitoring
  • Run tasks

Note: VSA 10 does not support ticketing.

Cyber Cloud integrations: CyberApp alerts in integration ticket mapping

Partners can now leverage Acronis integrations for ticket creation in their PSA or RMM applications.

The configuration flow consists of only two steps:

  1. A partner enables ticket creation in their RMM or PSA integration.
  2. The partner selects alert types provided by integrations (CyberApps) to be included in ticket synchronization.

As a result, if a CyberApp creates an alert in Acronis, a ticket will be created in the RMM or PSA application.

All ticket sync scenarios are supported, including ticket re-opening and closing, and alert closing.

Changes in the Acronis Cyber Cloud API

Upcoming end of support for /api/ams REST API

The /api/ams/ REST API, which is used for backup and resource management, will be deprecated and replaced by a new API. The new API will accommodate all integrations and automation scenarios that currently use /api/ams/.

The /api/ams/ REST API is not an official and public API. However, some customers are using it for integration and automation tasks. To ensure smooth transition, the deprecation will be done in phases, with one year of notice for each phase.

Acronis has officially announced the beginning of the one year notice period for Phase 1 in May, 2024. Documentation on how to migrate to the new public REST API is provided in the API change log document.

One year after the official announcement of deprecation, there will be no commitment to support the /api/ams/ endpoints, even though they might still be available.

You can find more information and the history of changes in Acronis Cyber Cloud API in the API change log document.
