What's new

Changes in the Startup Rеcovery Manager

This update introduces changes to the Startup Recovery Manager, that interfere with BitLocker if both BitLocker and Startup Recovery Manager are enabled on a protected Windows machine. When restarting the machine after an agent update (both manual or automated), the BitLocker recovery key is required.

To avoid the need of entering the BitLocker recovery key on protected workloads, suspend or disable BitLocker before updating the agent. After the update, enable BitLocker again. See product documentation.

Agentless backup for Nutanix AHV virtual machines

The agentless backup for Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor (Nutanix AHV) virtual machines is a fast and reliable backup solution developed in tight cooperation with Nutanix. It offers flexible backup storage options: Acronis Cloud, Nutanix Objects, or Nutanix Files storage, as well as other public clouds, and enables cross-platform migration to Nutanix AHV VMs from anywhere (recover Any-to-Nutanix).

Licensing

  • Virtual Machine quota per Nutanix VM (same as for other VMs).
  • Acronis Cyber Protect 16 Cloud Deployment: Standard or Advanced Virtual Host for all VMs.

Support for new Linux kernels for backup

Now you can back up Linux workloads with kernel versions 6.10 and 6.11.

Acronis PSA (Advanced Automation): Quantity used and quantity sold reporting

We improved the precision of expense and profitability metrics in sales and billing reports. The separate reporting of used and sold product quantities allows MSPs to track more precisely their own expenses and profits for customer contracts with minimum usage commitments.

Acronis RMM (Advanced Management): Differentiate logged-in users when patching applications

This feature ensures seamless patch deployment across all applications, regardless of their installation types. By bridging the gap between user-specific and system-wide updates, this improvement significantly enhances the flexibility and reliability of our patching process.

Additional information:

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Patch Management now supports patching for both applications installed for individual user accounts as well as system-wide installations. This eliminates the limitation where only system-wide installations were updated.
  • Granularity: You can view granular activity details for each patched application, specifying whether it’s user-based or system-wide.
  • Visibility: Sub-activities are listed under unified parent tasks, for easy tracking and management.
  • Seamless integration: No additional configuration needed to enable user-based patching—it’s automatically applied.

Acronis RMM (Advanced Management) + Advanced Security + EDR : Enhanced Reboot configuration for incident response through patching

The Advanced Reboot Configuration feature enhances the patching process during security incident response actions. IT administrators can now immediately deploy patches as part of their preventive measures, and leverage robust reboot management capabilities. This ensures a seamless experience for end users, while enabling organizations to respond swiftly to security threats and maintain compliance.

Additional information:

  • Incident Response Integration: Enables immediate patching to address security incidents and prevent recurrence.
  • Minimized disruptions: Clear notifications and flexible reboot options ensure that end users remain productive, without sudden interruptions.
  • Granular control: IT admins gain precise management of reboot behavior, tailored for various scenarios, including critical or urgent patches.
  • Enhanced user experience: Customizable notifications and reminders keep users informed about upcoming reboots without forcing immediate action.

Cloud Integrations: Improved ticket mapping for HaloPSA and Kaseya BMS

With the increasing number of products and features in Acronis, we also have increasing number of alert types, which might complicate the configuring of ticket mapping in integrations, such as PSAs that support ticketing scenarios.
The new ticket mapping flow groups alert types by application so MSPs can be confident that all relevant alert types are correctly configured for ticket sync. It also gives MSPs more control over ticket defaults. The new ticket mapping flow allows PMSs to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Configure defaults for tickets.
  • Configure ticket mapping for each application they are interested in.

Changes in Acronis Cyber Cloud API

Upcoming end of support for /api/ams REST API

The /api/ams/ REST API, which is used for backup and resource management, will be deprecated and replaced by a new API. The new API will accommodate all integrations and automation scenarios that currently use /api/ams/.

The /api/ams/ REST API is not an official and public API. However, some customers are using it for integration and automation tasks. To ensure smooth transition, the deprecation will be done in phases, with one year of notice for each phase.

Herein we officially announce the beginning of the one year notice period for Phase 1. Documentation on how to migrate to the new public REST API will be provided.

One year after the official announcement of deprecation, there will be no commitment to support the /api/ams/ endpoints, even though they might still be available.

You can find more information and the history of changes in Acronis Cyber Cloud API in the dedicated API change log document.
