Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud

Advanced Management

New machine learning-based monitoring and smart alerting enables you to:

  • Increase the efficiency of and improve business continuity when monitoring the performance and reliability of workloads.
  • Eliminate unplanned workload downtime and data loss by using predictive, precise, and automatic anomaly detection that includes auto-response actions.
  • Reduce the volume of generated alerts for MSP technicians by using machine learning and automation to detect and prevent issues proactively, and effectively prioritize alerts with auto-response actions. 

As a Partner or Customer administrator, you can:

  • Configure monitors to collect metrics (hardware, software, performance, system, and security) from workloads, by using machine learning to compare them against normal behavior patterns. 
  • Select the preferred mode of monitoring and alerting: threshold-based or anomaly-based monitoring by using machine learning models. 
  • Customize alerts by adjusting their severity, frequency, and message.
  • Remediate issues detected on workloads by triggering automated or manual response actions.
  • Configure email alerts to receive timely updates on the status of managed environments. 

Backup: Improved "Volume Shadow Copy" option

The "Volume Shadow Copy" option leverages the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) framework to create backups of Windows-based workloads.

The behavior of this option was redesigned to avoid backup failures caused by a single failing VSS writer. Instead of failing the entire backup, the malfunctioning VSS writers will be automatically excluded from the VSS snapshot in order to complete the backup successfully.

RMM/PSA Integrations

ConnectWise Control version 1.3

Now partners can save time by grouping all workloads that have open alerts in a single group. In-product notifications for available updates help partners update to the latest version of the integration as it's released. 

As a Partner or Customer administrator, you can:

  • See an Access Group called With Acronis alerts, which lists all devices with open Acronis alerts.
  • See a notification on the Acronis tab that an updated version of the integration is available.
Integrations with hosting panel

Now partners that use integrations with Plesk, cPanel and DirectAdmin, will benefit from enhanced security posture.

As a Partner or Customer administrator, you can:

  • Register and configure protection plan using the ‘Protection user’ account role instead of the ‘Company administrator’.
  • Automatically create individual protection plans upon deployment.
  • Edit individual protection plans inside the integration interface and from the Cyber Protection service console.

End of support for macOS versions 10.10, 10.11, and 10.12

Starting in July 2023, with the release of Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud 23.07, we will end the support of the following macOS versions:

  • OS X 10.10 Yosemite
  • OS X 10.11 El Capitan
  • macOS 10.12 Sierra

    • [CI-23246] [Autotask PSA] Offering items that are re-enabled in Cyber Cloud are not synchronized in Autotask during 2 way syncing and remain disabled.
    • [CI-23187] [Jamf PRO] Integration policies, profiles, and extension attributes are continuously recreated by the integration which results in large logs in the DB.
    • [CI-21952] [Datto RMM] An error "Provide correct credentials and try again." occurs when trying to change the credentials for a second time on the Integration Settings tab.
    • [CI-11257] Integration can be activated on a customer tenant.
    • [CI-23053] Trial configurations could stop working if one of the connected datacenters is unavailable or misconfigured.
    • [CI-23212] [N-able] Acronis agent for Windows is downloaded 3 times prior to starting the installation.

  • Virtualization protection

    • [ABR-366015] The aakore service restarts unexpectedly on the Management appliance.
    • [ABR-364964] Protection plans with conversion for vCenter VMs can run only once. The second run of such plans fail to start with error “The name '<VM_name>' already exists”.
    • [ABR-366555] Problem with syncing old archives with large metadata.
    • [ABR-365212] Backups fail with the error "413 Request Entity Too Large".

Known issues and limitations

This section describes issues that are currently known and provides solutions to avoid the issues where possible.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud

  • Advanced Disaster Recovery

    • [DRAAS-22649] Missing Settings section for DR policy in protection plans.
      • Solution: Reapply the protection plan: Navigate to “Plans” > "Protection", select the DR plan, click Edit and click Save without changing anything.
    • [DRAAS-25137] VPN Gateway deployment fails due to a duplicate entry in DB
    • [DRAAS-27233] The data for storage usage by recovery servers is not updated when storage quota is exceeded.
      • Solution: Extend the quota to 0 "unlimited" and wait for the usage values to be updated. Reduce the quota if needed.
    • [DRAAS-25352] Runbook activity details show errors even though the activity succeeded.
  • Backup and recovery

    • [ABR-282894] It is possible to update the Docker-based protection agent, but updates are not supported for this agent which causes protection plans to fail after the update.
    • [ABR-346068] The Plans tab shows incorrect status of protection plans, and contains outdated alerts.
  • Common

    • [ABR-306459] Backup finished with error "A device attached to the system is not functioning" on specified machine.
    • [ABR-228827] If some backup is removed via the Data Recovery (Web Restore) console, this change is not reflected in the service console while browsing the backup location, until the service console is refreshed.
    • [ABR-196710] The backup location on the network share usage is duplicated in the case when there is a different network share with the same name registered as a backup location (shares rotation scenario).
    • [ABR-189620] The "Activities summary" widget shows activities out of the defined date "Range" scope (excessive activities may be shown).
    • [ABR-184900] Local backup usage is not reported for backups stored on a network share with enabled deduplication.
    • [ABR-183764] Local backup usage is not updated for all virtual machine backups after deleting and re-adding a network location.
    • [ABR-182313] Local backup usage size is duplicated after reconnecting a locally attached storage (LAS) to a new Agent for VMware (Virtual Appliance).
    • [ABR-178648] The installer does not remove/update old libraries if the previous update was interrupted.
    • [ABR-154655] The protection plan may have the "Backup succeeded" status, even if this plan is completed with warnings. Alerts and activities still show the proper status of the plan.
    • [ABR-190404] It is not possible to recover from the Large Scale Recovery backup produced by the "LSR" tool if the backup is split into multiple separate files (multi-volume).
    • [ABR-158677] "Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection" NIC is not properly recognized by Windows 10 after recovery of an image to a VMware Workstation virtual machine by using the bootable media.
    • [ADP-17122] Backups Scanning does not work properly with orphaned archives.
    • [ARC-454] Backup tasks do not fail immediately if the storage certificate is expired which results in slowing down all other backups to cloud.
    • [ABR-363877] Multiple unnecessary alerts appear in the logs.
    • [ARC-162] Cloud to cloud backups might fail with error "Failed to execute flow: [C2CAgent-SPOReadArchiveError]: [Archive Server]: server instance mismatch".
    • [ARC-355] On some EU and US datacenters, cloud to cloud backups might fail with errors “Archive: Could not create XXX item: [Archive Server]: server instance mismatch."
    • [ABR-142330] Backup plans continues to run on the workload after registering it to a different user and the plan cannot be revoked.
      • Solution: Contact the support team to delete the plan.
    • [ABR-306783] Backup plans are completed with warning message “Windows error: (HEX_ADDRESS) A device attached to the system is not functioning.” after updating the protection agent.
    • [ABR-327806] Archives are not sorted correctly by name in Japanese language.
    • [VSTOR-58537] Storage updates might fail with error “Failed to do post-update actions.”
      • Solution: Restart and retry the operation.
    • [ADP-9810] Conflicting non-applicable modules are displayed simultaneously in protection plans and can be enabled.
  • Cyber Protection Agent

    • [ABR-87244] File-level recovery from a disk/volume backup of NTFS volumes with the enabled native deduplication does not work.
    • [ABR-321212] Backups of entire machine fail with error “ASYNC: Full barrier action job.” if some of the protected disks always returns zero NTSignature.
    • [ABR-212696] Encrypted backup plan fails and the service_process crashes if the Workstation service is stopped.
    • [ABR-358987] The Activities tab does not indicate that a network-isolation-unit is offline.
    • [ABR-321592] The agent performs a full backup instead of an incremental one.
    • [ABR-217108] If the system disk runs out of space while a backup operation is running, the status of that backup stays “In progress” permanently.
    • [ABR-364447] Agent installation or uninstallation fails with an error related to driver packages: "UninstallDriverPackages failed with error 0x2" or "InstallDriverPackages failed with error 0x2.”
    • [ADP-10416] In environments with multiple agents, the updates of Cyber Protect Definitions fail after the agent that is used for data distribution has been re-registered.
      • Solution: Enable the data distribution option on all agents that are failing and after the successful updates, disable the option.
    • [ABR-351540] If a protected Linux workload is restarted through hard reboot during a backup operation, the backup status remains “In progress” nn % forever, even though the backup operation has failed.
  • Dashboards and reports

    • [ADP-11580] Monitoring: Scheduled reports are not being generated and sent as configured.
    • [ADP-13842] Monitoring: No data for Microsoft 365 backups in the Activities widget of the Operations tab.
  • Data Loss Prevention and Device control

    • [DEVLOCK-1558] In rare cases, Acronis Cyber Protect Agent setup hangs at upgrading due deadlock in Agent for DLP.
    • [DEVLOCK-4028] There is no control of chats for Zoom desktop agent.
    • [DEVLOCK-3717] Automatic internal hosts recognition fails in some scenarios for HTTP servers.
    • [DEVLOCK-3930] There is no control for copy text operation (Clipboard, Redirected clipboard) in Adobe Acrobat reader DC Windows 10 x86.
    • [DEVLOCK-2728] In some scenarios system may become unstable when copying many files to Removable and SMB simultaneously.
    • [DEVLOCK-2512] In rare cases Acronis Cyber Protect Agent can't be stopped.
    • [DEVLOCK-3717] Automatic internal/external destination detection for HTTP within a domain with hostname access does not work correctly (detected as External).
    • [DEVLOCK-4481] Google Chrome does not start with DLP Agent installed.
    • [DEVLOCK-4235] No file sharing control if uploading files via api using python.
    • [DEVLOCK-4028] There is no control for the group chats in Zoom desktop agent.
    • [DEVLOCK-4070] The USB allowlist not working on a physical MacBook computer (applies to Device control module on macOS).
    • [DEVLOCK-4117] HID Bluetooth devices denied by service when "Bluetooth HID" checked in the Device types allowlist (applies to Device control module on Windows computers).
    • [DEVLOCK-4016] Sender's friendly name and ID are not captured for GMX Web Mail in case of an email draft creation.
    • [DEVLOCK-4447] No Justification dialog is presented to the sender for Naver WebMail in case of an email draft creation.
    • [DEVLOCK-4025] Recipient's friendly name and ID are not captured for ICQ desktop agent (applies to Windows 10 x86).
    • [DEVLOCK-4045] Sender's friendly name and ID are not captured for Mail.
    • [DEVLOCK-1033] Agent for DLP is causing system errors on some workloads after updating the agent for Hyper-V.
      • Solution: Before updating the agent, uninstall the Data Loss Prevention drivers along with the entire 'Agent for DLP' feature either manually using the installer UI or by using the command-line: <installer.exe> --remove-components=agentForDlp --quiet
  • Linux protection

    • [ABR-364886] The recovery of files or folders from an XFS image fails with error "The file is corrupted."

      • Solution: Recover the entire machine and recover your files and folders from there.

    • [ABR-51351] The recovery of Oracle database fails with error “Internal error: required number of indirects decreased during extents fragmentation” during the resize of a partition.
  • macOS protection

    • [ABR-207057] The Bulgarian language is missing in the "Recovery HD" menu (bootable media for Mac), due to a lack of support for the Bulgarian language in macOS.
    • [ABR-141823] There are incorrect backup items in a protection plan after updating Mac OS X to 10.13 High Sierra with conversion from HFS+ to APFS (some backup items are missing).
    • [ABR-137886] Backing up Mac with Apple RAID configured fails with the "No volumes were found when processing the 'Fixed Volumes' template" error. Apple RAIDs are not supported.
    • [ABR-115270] The "[All Profiles Folder]" template in a file-level backup does not support a custom profile path.
  • Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other applications protection

    • [ABR-74984] The "Next backup" time is not displayed for a machine that has only application-level protection plans applied to it.

    • [ABR-255521] The number of total runs and successful runs is zero for the Microsoft Office 365 resources.

    • [ABR-367292] Microsoft 365 backups do not run automatically, or backups are in queue for too long.
    • [ABR-349849] Partner Administrator users see the message "Expired link" when they click the link to download PST.
    • [ABR-354087] The OneDrive service is not visible in the User Details tab.
    • [ABR-365707] If a backup wasn't performed on the planned day, it continues to show that day as the next backup date.
    • [ABR-365395] Some folders might not be visible when browsing a SharePoint backup archive to recover.
  • Physical Data Shipping

    • [PDS-192] Company Administrator users cannot create PDS orders. The following error occurs: "The service is not available. Please close the tool and try again later."
  • Virtualization protection

    • [ABR-320237] Debian 10 EFI VM with enabled Secure Boot is not bootable after recovery of backup captured from VMware ESXi to VM on Scale Computing HC3

      • Solution: disable Secure Boot in EFI boot manager configuration after recovery

    • [ABR-320149] Recovery of backup for machine which contains a mix of IDE and SCSI drives, to Scale Computing VM, produces a VM which misses 1 disk (non-system SCSI disk is not restored)

    • [ABR-242166] An application-aware backup of a Hyper-V virtual machine may fail when executing the WMI query, with the "WMI 'ExecQuery' failed executing query." or "Failed to create a new process via WMI" errors, when the backup is performed on a host under a high load, due to no response from WMI.

    • [ABR-235983] A protection plan using policy rules such as "/dev/sdaX" or "/sdaX" applied to a VMware or Hyper-V virtual machine fails with the "Nothing to back up. The operation has been terminated." error, when performed by Agent for VMware/Hyper-V.

    • [ABR-234935] There are duplicated activities in the Activities summary, after the backup of a virtual machine running on a Hyper-V cluster.

    • [ABR-234935] An incorrect number of Total runs/Number of successful runs for a Hyper-V cluster is shown on the Operations tab.

    • [ABR-234935] The number of email notifications is equal to the number of Hyper-V cluster nodes for one VM backup activity.

    • [ABR-192213] VMware virtual machines with an empty "vc.uuid" (InstanceUUID) vSphere property are not listed in the service console.

    • [ABR-189882] Backup of a Hyper-V virtual machine fails if it contains an ampersand symbol in the names of its virtual disks.

    • [ABR-173002] Run VM from a backup on a Hyper-V host fails, if the backup is located on the same volume as the path selected for the mounted VM disks.

      • Solution: Select a different volume for the mounted VM disk path. The space will be consumed only for changes generated inside the mounted VM and it will not occupy the entire size of the virtual disk.

    • [ABR-137564] Cross-platform recoveries (when the backup was created not by Agent for Hyper-V) into a new Hyper-V virtual machine by Agent for Hyper-V always produces the Gen 1 version of virtual machine.

    • [ABR-115430] A "backup is missing for X days" alert is activated even if the backup plan is not scheduled, but has this alert option enabled in its settings.

    • [ABR-104081] A VM replication plan may fail due to network disconnects between source and target ESXi hosts even if the "Error handling" option is enabled.

    • [ABR-85645] Backup of a virtual machine with Active Directory may complete with warning "MFT bitmap is corrupted."

    • [ABR-183082] Recovery of a Linux machine having some volumes with the XFS file system completes with the "Failed to process the boot loader configuration." warning. The machine is bootable despite the warning.

Management Portal and Platform Core

  • The read-only role is available for selection while customer tenant is in Cyber Backup - Standard and Cyber Protect - Standard editions, yet it should not be due to licensing limitations.
  • [ABR-203243] Logout is done correctly while a user is logged in via a branded URL; however, logout is not done for a non-branded URL.
  • [ABR-173628] Active Directory Connector - mapping is not saved when one or more Distinguished Names (DNs) are invalid.
  • [ABR-131711] Lack of salutation text in the "Quota exceeded" email notification.
  • [PLTFRM-2340] The "Tenant was moved" audit event description shows tenant IDs instead of names.
  • [PLTFRM-18229] Improve the error message for the RPC GetRedirect method, in case a customer has no storage.
