Known issues
This section describes issues that are currently known and provides solutions to avoid the issues where possible.
Common
- [ABR-108446] After upgrading from Acronis Backup 11.5/11.7, the backup plans that replicate backups to two or more locations fail. The problem does not affect backup plans with one additional backup location defined (second destination).
Solution: recreate these backup plans manually.
- [ABR-110899 + ABR-108804] Starting a trial is not possible when backing up SQL Server databases.
- [ABR-110713] Low performance when copying files from a .tib file that is opened via the Windows Explorer shell extension.
- [ABR-110315] The status of a backup canceled by a user is shown as Succeeded with warnings instead of Canceled.
- [ABR-108066] Recovery of physical machine to virtual (P2V) performed by Agent for VMware or Agent for Hyper-V completes successfully, but the activity contains the warning "Failed to get the object's property 'ManagedHost'."
Solution: ignore the warning.
- [ABR-107545] The message about missing licenses remains on the backup plan creation panel even after adding valid licenses.
Solution: ignore the message.
- [ABR-108100] Perpetual license keys added to the Acronis account are not properly synchronized with the product.
- [ABR-104360] Backups of virtual machines and applications cannot be deleted from Acronis Cloud Storage. The following error appears: "Failed to lock the file."
Solution: wait for 15 minutes and re-try the operation.
- [ABR-103714] Volume letters may be shown incorrectly when browsing files in a virtual machine backup performed by Agent for VMware/Hyper-V/Virtuozzo.
- [ABR-103367] Installation of Agent for Linux on a Microsoft Azure virtual machine running CentOS 7.0 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 is shown as failed ("Failed to install the required packages by using YUM."), while in fact it completes successfully and the installed Agent for Linux works properly.
- [ABR-102990] The Bytes processed and Bytes saved statistic is not shown for failed backup activities.
- [ABR-101504] Browsing files when selecting a backup source may not work in rare cases
Solution: refresh the web console by pressing F5.
- [ABR-88247] Search by device name on the Activities tab is case-sensitive.
- [ABR-83155] The backup progress is shown incorrectly when the folder selected to back up contains more than 200 subfolders.
- [ABR-111624] Under bootable media created in OS X 10.8-10.10, Acronis components fail to start. The following error appears: "Code signature invalid."
Virtualization
- [ABR-111052] Backing up a VMware vSphere 6.5 virtual machine with an NVMe controller fails. The following error appears: "You do not have access rights to this file."
- [ABR-117801] After recovering a virtual machine with the PVRDMA network adapter to a new virtual machine, the recovered virtual machine has the VMXNET3 network adapter.
- [ABR-119508] After replicating to an existing encrypted virtual machine, the replicated virtual machine cannot be powered on. The following error appears: "Module 'Nvman' power on failed."
- [ABR-119529] VMware vSphere 6.5 virtual machines that reside on VMFS 6.0 datastores cannot be backed up by using the SAN transport mode.
- [ABR-111256] After redeployment of Agent for VMware (Virtual Appliance), the ESXi configuration backup fails because the root credentials to an ESXi host are missing in the backup plan.
Solution: specify the credentials in the backup plan again.
- [ABR-111186] After redeployment of Agent for VMware (Virtual Appliance), the backup status of the virtual machines managed by this agent becomes Not protected in the backup console.
- [ABR-109178] If the file exclusions specified in the File filters backup option contain a drive letter (for example, "C:\Windows\"), they will not work during backup of virtual machines by using Agent for VMware or Agent for Hyper-V.
Solution: use "?" or "*" instead of a drive letter. For example: "?:\Windows" or "*:\Windows\".
- [ABR-108510] The confirmation dialog may appear again after a VM running from a backup has been deleted or Agent for VMware has been removed.
Solution: click Delete in the confirmation dialog, and then click OK in the error message. This error can be safely ignored.
- [ABR-108433] Running a VM from an encrypted backup takes 3-5 times longer than from a non-encrypted backup.
- [ABR-104551] Backup of ESXi host configuration does not work for ESXi 4.1 Update 2 build 502176 (only this specific build). Backup of virtual machines works properly.
- [ABR-104538] It is not possible to use Agent for VMware (Windows) if Acronis Management Server is installed in Linux.
Solution: install Acronis Management Server in Windows OR use Agent for VMware (Virtual Appliance).
- [ABR-104293] A virtual machine run from a backup of a physical machine is not bootable if the backup contains logical volumes managed by LDM (in Windows) or LVM (in Linux).
Solution: perform recovery to a virtual machine instead of running a virtual machine from the backup.
- [ABR-104133] Email notification options are missing when creating a VM replication plan.
- [ABR-102994] The web interface allows selecting the cloud storage as a destination for ESXi host configuration backup while in fact it is not supported.
Solution: Back up to a supported location, i.e. to a local or a network folder.
- [ABR-96496] Acronis Backup Agent for VMware disables Windows NFS server functions when installed on Windows Server 2012, due to the ports conflict.
- [ABR-90170] Backup activities may not be shown when you select a virtual machine and click Activities.
Solution: view the activities on the Activities tab.
- [ABR-90100] When a virtual machine in a Hyper-V cluster is being backed up, multiple backup activities are shown on the Activities tab, one activity per cluster node.
- [ABR-108863] Backup of ESXi VM via the command line does not work if Agent or VMware (Windows) is used.
Solution: create a backup plan by using the web interface.
